Weekly 2 Hours for The SocietyInception: 2008

Under the Community Service domain, Deepastambha Charitable Trust runs its foundational movement: the Weekly Activity of 2 Hours. Begun in 2008 in Pune, it rests on the conviction that social transformation begins with individual responsibility and grows through collective action.

Every weekend, volunteers dedicate two hours to hands-on public service. Innovation is at the very core of this model—every 2-hour session combines doing something new with making social work genuinely interesting, vibrant, and engaging. The initiative gives participants complete freedom to choose causes aligned with their personal interests and take ownership within clear team guidelines. Genuine dedication is recognized immediately: volunteers are encouraged to step up and lead initiatives right from the start rather than waiting years for leadership roles. The more regularly volunteers participate, the deeper the sense of personal fulfillment and collective community outcome. The movement has operated without missing a single weekend since inception, rotating across creative social themes to offer fresh perspectives and tangible civic benefits.

Testimonials

“Unlike other organizations, DCT does not just focus on specific activities but works in various activities involving the entire age group of the society.

The thing I loved the most about those activities is Skool Sansad.

That is one of the best activities I have ever experienced and is really thought-provoking for the younger generations.”
