Inception: 2018

Under the Clean Water and Sanitation domain, Deepastambha Charitable Trust leads Gramarthan – with various initiatives —a grassroots public health and environmental hygiene initiative. The program addresses everyday rural challenges in drinking water safety, domestic sanitation, and waste handling by delivering need-based, community-managed infrastructure.

Recognizing that physical facilities alone do not guarantee lasting health improvements, Gramarthan couples civil interventions with community ownership and behavioral nudges. By pairing decentralized clean-water infrastructure like Water ATMs with household sanitation dignity, door-to-door waste segregation, and citizen cleanliness movements (Swachh Maze Gao), the project transforms rural habitats into cleaner, disease-resilient, and self-reliant ecosystems.
